2016 Community Awards
News From September 2016
“We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.
Our parks and green spaces play an important role in our communities, but their benefits are often taken for granted. As well as providing havens for wildlife, having accessible, high quality green space can have a big impact of our health and well-being, and local economy.”
“The success of community sites is due to the commitment and dedication of local volunteers and it is thanks to them that we have so many fantastic facilities available on our doorstep. I’d like to congratulate all our winners and thank everyone who is involved in raising the standard of our green spaces.”

Paul Sampson’s focus on photography project in partnership with Cartrefi Conwy housing Association has won the Arts, Business and Health award in the Arts and Business Cymru Awards held last weekend at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff. A group of 12 elderly sheltered housing tenants participated in a digital photography course with Paul and Llandudno in Bloom Funded the group to undertake a photographic project at Llandudno allotments for the 2015 Bloom campaign. A continuation of the project will take place as part of this year’s campaign
Some Nice Words from our Town Mayor Cnllr Frank Bradfield's Facebook Page on the Days Events , And A Big Thank You To Him for his work on this eventfull Day
I was proud to be involved in the “Clean for the Queen Campaign” with many residents of Llandudno and Friends Groups taking part. It was a day when the townsfolk of Llandudno came together to clear the town of litter. There were three main teams to thank for their organisation and hard work.
One led from St. David’s Church in Craig-y-Don by Frances Williams and the Women’s Institute. Another led by Cllr Francis Davies his wife Sonia and well supported by Flight Lieutenant, Vince Morris and the cadets of 418 ATC Squadron RAF Aberconwy. The staff at the local B&Q store also deserve credit for supplying the bags and litter pickers to assist all the volunteers who met there.
The third group was led by Gerry Sweeney supported by the Friends of West Shore who worked in teams cleaning up the area there.
I thought Facebook should recognise the people who give their time freely to help others and I have not forgotten the great support the volunteers and the Llandudno Town Council and staff have had from the local authority working in partnership to take the initiative of the “Clean for the Queen Campaign” forward for the benefit of the town
BIG Thanks Also To: The Womens Institute Who organised a Clean up around Craig Y Don
And Also To Staff At The NATIONWIDE For helping in a general clean up of Queens Park Craig Y Don
